JakartaHerald.com - BBN Airlines Indonesia, under the leadership of Chairman Martynas Grigas, is expanding its fleet with plans to add 7 Boeing 737-800 aircraft by 2024.
Currently operating with a fleet of 3 Boeing 737-800 passenger aircraft and 3 cargo aircraft of the same model, BBN Airlines aims to increase its capacity to service passengers more efficiently.
Grigas stated during a media discussion at the Ministry of Transportation building in Jakarta on Thursday (14/3/2024) that the goal is to have a total of 10 Boeing 737-800 aircraft by the end of the year, targeting to serve around 2 million passengers by the end of 2024.
The arrival of the additional aircraft will be gradual throughout the year, although specific timelines were not disclosed.
In preparation for the expansion, BBN Airlines is currently in discussions regarding new flight routes to be opened upon receiving the official Certificate of Air Operations (AOC) for commercial passenger flights from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation.
While details of the potential routes were not revealed, Grigas mentioned that the company is considering routes with low frequency as well as those that have not seen passenger numbers recover post-Covid-19 pandemic.
Furthermore, BBN Airlines is exploring the possibility of direct flights to destinations currently underserved by other airlines.
Collaborations with provincial or municipal governments to increase flight frequencies in their respective regions are also being considered. The airline aims to provide medium-class service to its passengers, offering snacks or hot meals depending on the distance of the flight.
As the expansion plans progress, BBN Airlines Indonesia continues to focus on enhancing its offerings and providing quality service to passengers. With a vision for growth and commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the aviation industry, the airline looks forward to exciting developments in the near future.
