JakartaHerald.com - Jonatan Christie successfully chased Anthony Sinisuka Ginting to once again create an All-Indonesian final at the oldest badminton tournament, the All England 2024.
This achievement came after Jonatan defeated India's representative, Lakshya Sen, in a dramatic three-game battle. Competing at Utilita Arena, Birmingham, Jonatan needed three games to overcome Sen, eventually emerging as the winner with scores of 21-12, 10-21, and 21-15.
The All-Indonesian final between Ginting and Jonatan will mark the ninth meeting between the two Indonesian men's singles players in the final stage of the BWF World Tour Super 1000 tournament.
Furthermore, this final between the two Indonesian representatives is the first in the last 30 years of the history of the All England Open men's singles, since Hariyanto Arbi faced Ardy Bernardus Wiranata in the All England 1994.
Prior to this, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting advanced to the final of the BWF World Tour Super 1000 All England Open 2024 after successfully defeating France's representative, Christo Popov, in the semifinal round.
Ginting required three games to defeat Popov, ultimately coming out as the victor with scores of 19-21, 21-15, and 21-11 in 1 hour and 15 minutes.
